The Opening of the Mouth Ceremony Greeting Card
The Opening of the Mouth Ceremony Greeting Card
Ancient Egyptian greeting card, blank inside for your message. The back of the card features an image of the original art and a brief description of its meaning. The artwork is a reproduction of a vignette from the ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead, taken from the Papyrus of Hunefer (EA9901,5) dating to around 1450 BC. It depicts Hunefer's mummy supported by Anubis or a jackal-masked priest, while Hunefer's wife Nasha and daughter mourn. Three priests, including one wearing a panther skin, perform the Opening of the Mouth ritual (Spell 22).
